Abstract

The translation of children's literature presents a unique set of challenges for literary translators. These challenges are rooted in the fact that children's literature is a highly specialized field that requires a thorough understanding of child psychology, cultural nuances, and linguistic structures. In addition, the translator must be able to capture the spirit and essence of the original text in order to make it engaging and understandable for a young audience. This paper explores the various challenges that arise during the translation of children's literature, including the difficulties in translating wordplay, cultural concepts, and age-appropriate language. It also discusses the importance of maintaining the author's intended tone and style, while adapting the text to suit the target language and culture. Overall, this paper highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing these challenges in order to produce accurate and engaging translations of children's literature.
